Em caso de les\u00e3o tor\u00e1cica fechada ou aberta, ocorre a despressuriza\u00e7\u00e3o deste sistema. Na traumatologia, esta \u00e9 a complica\u00e7\u00e3o mais comum e amea\u00e7adora \u00e0 vida dos casos de fraturas de costelas ou clav\u00edcula, quando uma borda afiada do osso partido perfura a pleura.<\/p>\n\n<p>O ar se desloca para a cavidade pleural, excluindo o pulm\u00e3o do processo respirat\u00f3rio. O mais perigoso \u00e9 o pneumot\u00f3rax hipertensivo ou valvular. Nele, os tecidos moles danificados atuam como uma v\u00e1lvula unidirecional: o ar entra livremente na cavidade a cada inspira\u00e7\u00e3o, mas n\u00e3o pode sair durante a expira\u00e7\u00e3o. O paciente assume uma posi\u00e7\u00e3o sentada for\u00e7ada e tenta captar ar pela boca.<\/p>\n\n<p>O diagn\u00f3stico \u00e9 confiavelmente confirmado por radiografia de t\u00f3rax panor\u00e2mica.
